I just got a text message from Hannah:

So, is she offended by the remark? He may not even know what it means. Am I bad if I say that I chuckled a bit when I read that??
Not at all -- Hannah laughed too. :) She figured it was just an unfortunate coincidence -- he's been trying out so many new sounds/words lately that it was inevitable that he'd say something accidentally inappropriate. She wasn't offended at all. (I say, "well that's dumb" occasionally, but never in reference to a person, so I doubt Austen was remarking on Hannah's intelligence. ;)
