If someone suggests that you take an online course, especially one in some type of programming language, please remember to stick to your guns and say NO firmly and unequivocally. Whatever happens, DO NOT CAVE. Your happiness and well-being depends on this.

Ha! Try a masters through distance ed that uses loads of online tools that suck ;) Java was my only programming language I had to learn... Any sort of distance learning takes 2x as much effort.

Very true. What I want is someone to sit down with me for 2-3 days and give me the crash course, using code I'm already familiar with to illustrate concepts. I don't have any patience for traditional coursework anymore (actually, my patience wore thin about 18 years ago, as I was finishing my last quarter of university... :).
