November 11, 2002
Well, it happened: Coastside.net won the Keg! As you can see, Al printed out a photo of me in my Spitfire uniform and blew it up on the copier so I'd make the team photo. He said he kept it on the bench during the game, too. :)

There was no off-week before the Fall season started, so we played our first game of the season last Monday against a new team: Symantec. They're very cute, similar to the first-Monday-season Blue Martini teams. Weirdly (because I've always preferred playing "up" on Mondays), I had more fun playing against them than I had in a long time. Made me nostalgic for Thursday night beginner league. I actually wonder if I signed up to play on another night whether they'd stick me with the real beginners on Thursdays or put me with Al and the upper beginners/intermediates on Wednesdays. I'd like to think that I'm good enough for Wednesdays, but maybe Shawn and John have other ideas.

Anyway, the Symantec game was really fun; a little disorganized, since it's hard to play position against a team that doesn't know positions, but fun. I didn't feel as dorky as usual, which is probably why I enjoyed myself more.

We ended up winning by a large margin, I think, but almost all of the scoring was in the third period. The first two we were getting used to playing with each other (we lost Kristin, Geoff, and Heidi and gained a few new people) and trying to figure out what the heck the Symantec players were doing. Tonight we play the Toasters, who I think are pretty much the same team that they were last season. The rest of the teams, like ours have been shuffled a bit, so playing jGuru and Hoffman will feel pretty different, I imagine. Hopefully I'll have time to write about each game this season...
